*If you aren’t interested in learning how to repair all of the instruments - there are several other options on getting into the repair industry. If you want to work on say flutes specifically - it would be best to apply to work for a flute making company or a company that specializes in flute overhauls and repairs. You will learn a lot by starting on basics and working your way up. You can also choose to take some repair courses offered for your instrument of choice. You will not learn everything so don’t expect to complete a one week class and be able to start your own company. You will need guidance and much more experience. Once you have a class under your belt you would have a good chance of being hired as an apprentice. If you go this route - start talking to the repair shops you’d like to work in and let them know your plan. They may say to not bother with the class and teach you themselves.
